THE DELAWARE TRIBE

My group and I are doing a project on the Delaware tribe. I am writing about the way they are being treated by the U.S Government, art, and the area and environment the tribe lived in. My group is with Dominic Zarba and Guillermo Rivas. Please enjoy my blog.

The Delaware or the lenape made ten peace treaties with America including the treaty of Fort Pitt which was the first treaty between the new Untied States of America and any American indians . Over time this lead with America having all land and leaving Delaware with only parts of states. They are Oklahoma, Ontario, Wisconsin, Kansas, and New Jersey. Since the Delaware didn't get nothing in return they wanted their land back. But it all ended up with the Delawares losing their federal status in 2004.

Compared to how they used to live on the 1600s with as many as twenty states and with 8,000 to 12,000 Delawareans. Most of them lived on the mid-Atlantic coast. But as the Europeans started coming to America and started to become friendly with them. Then about fifty years later started making peace treaties. The Delaware also had many problems with the dutch which ended with a war with them. Currently the government hasn't thought about giving them any land.

The Delaware tribe were very skilled at art. Their shoes or moccasins where also very creative. They were made of leather that they found hunting buffalo. They would use leaves and berries as dye their clothes. Their shoes are made of quilted toe and cuff. They didn't have any form of art except pictographs which were carved on stone. but then soon they started to learn how to make clay and how they could use it for pottery and how they could use it to allow things to be stood up easier. this happened about 16,000 years after the ice age.

The Delaware were known for living in the north area mostly in New Jersey. The earliest ancestors of the Delaware came to the skylands about 120,000 years ago. It was in a cold climate and there ware no forests, just grasses marshlands and scattered evergreen trees. So in order to survive they killed all to the kinds of animals there such as wholly mammoths and used each part of the body. As the climate became warmer and as the mammoths started dying out the Delawarean's started to change their clothing, weapons, and hunting tactics. Eventually the Delawareans started to improve their weapons area and lives with things such as bows and arrows started using clay and started to learn how to farm. Finally the Delaware village at historic Waterloo village was finally made for the Delaware's

As you can see the Delaware tribe is a very strong group. They are also very smart because when the temperature changed they knew that they and to change too. there are only 8,000 people in the world today out of the 12,000 people there were before. fortunately there are places that the Delawares have their own land where it is their rules. But Americans are still allowed to go there. Thank you for reading my blog.

Excellent job Javier. Your essay is well written and it shows you put effort in your work. Avoid first person in your introduction/conclusion next time though. Great work overall.
